Switzerland joins EU's 11th package of sanctions against Russia
GENEVA, Aug 16 (PRIME) -- Switzerland has joined the eleventh package of E.U. sanctions against Russia, the country's Federal Council said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The Federal Council has decided to renew the other measures of the E.U.'s eleventh package of sanctions that are relevant to Switzerland as of August 16, 2023,” the statement read.
The sanctions include a ban on 87 new companies from exporting dual-use goods and goods that may contribute to Russia's military-technical strengthening, including companies from third countries that have supplied such goods to Russia, the authority said.
The list of goods that are a subject to the export ban has been expanded to include electronic components and chemical weapons precursors, the authority also said.
The ban on transit through Russia has also been extended to such goods as jet fuel and fuel additives, as well as goods usable in the aviation or space industry, the council said.
The country also prohibited the sale of intellectual property rights on certain goods to Russia in order to prevent their production in the country, the authority also said.
The council stated that the sale of securities to Russian citizens or legal entities is prohibited, regardless of currency.
